Rick Sven is a minor character from the Muv-Luv Alternative Total Eclipse series. He was first introduced in the Muv-Luv Alternative Total Eclipse (Anime), and subsequently appeared in the Muv-Luv Alternative Total Eclipse (VN).

In all of his appearances, Rick was a US Army TSF pilot, as well as the former squad leader for the test flight responsible for the development of the Raptor EMD Phase. His callsign was Ghost-1.

Total Eclipse[edit | edit source]

Captain Rick Sven was the leader of Ghost Flight, a test flight based at Area 51 and responsible for conducting flight trials for the F-22 Raptor EMD Phase.

During a high-speed flight test through a canyon nearby Groom Lake, Nevada, on August 12th, 2000, he was the voice of reason while Yuuya (Ghost-2) attempted to push the Raptor EMD Phase beyond its capabilities, so as to prevent the cancellation of the F-22 line's continued development.

The move was hailed by Leon Kuze as insane, as the flight path was not an easily-navigable one. Nevertheless, Rick took over as Yuuya's chaser and showed that one can be calm and the voice of reason while still possessing that special brand of insanity displayed by test pilots in the grand tradition of Chuck Yeager. During the chase, however, he was killed in a rockslide indirectly caused by Yuuya's last-minute maneuver to avoid a collision with the canyon walls.

Quote[edit | edit source]

"Development delays are going to kill this TSF! Somebody has to make up for it somewhere."

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • He's essentially a shoutout to Goose, Maverick's RIO from the 1986 movie Top Gun. That would mean Yuuya is Maverick and Leon is Iceman.
  • Shall be imortalized by his inital death scene as Great Balls of Fire! Which is strangly missing in the second part.
  • His hair was changed from blonde (anime) to brown (visual novel).
